Our Philosophy
Trouvaille Horsemanship
blends the principles of natural Horsemanship
with the precision of the hunter/jumper and dressage worlds,
as well as the enjoyment of trail and pleasure riding worlds.
To us, the term "natural horsemanship" focuses on the horse-man relationship.
Our version of "natural horsemanship" can be described
an intelligent, compassionate and less invasive method approach to horse training
which is rewarding for both partners.
We believe that all horses and riders can benefit
from a deeper, more thoughtful partnership
regardless of discipline or level.
We focus on creating willing, confident partners by working with the horse
rather than imposing ourselves upon them.
We let the horse guide the pace of training,
always watching for signs of physical, mental or emotional discomfort,
and adjusting our progress accordingly.
We draw from the best of all disciplines to develop well-rounded, versatile horses and riders.
We strive to understand the natural behavior of the horse.
We believe that if we understand equine behavior and how horses perceive their environment,
we respond more thoughtfully and effectively.
This respect for the horse's natural instincts builds trust, security, and a stronger mental state-
leading to better communication and more rewarding partnerships.
We recognize that every horse and every human is different.
That's why we create customized training paths tailored to each individual partnership.
We work with the riders and choose a path
that works with their horse's unique personality and history.
We want to provide a stress-free environment where riders can explore
different methods of communicating with their horse
and learn how to apply those principles to whatever their individual discipline may be.
At Fox River Farm, this philosophy also extends to the horse's environment.
Our daily care supports the horse's natural needs
by providing foraging opportunities and allowing for herd interaction as much as possible.
Our environment allows them to simply be a horse -
while still meeting the realities of domestication and each animals's specific requirements.
Ultimately, we combine deep horse knowledge with rider self-awareness
to foster clear communication, mutual trust and genuine understanding.
The result is a true partnership that enhances performance, enjoyment, and horse welfare.
